Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction: You will set the tone for the association’s goals and objectives, guiding the board and committees in aligning their efforts with the community’s needs.
Meeting Facilitation: Organize and lead regular board meetings, ensuring that agendas are clear, discussions are productive, and all voices are heard. It is essential to create an environment where board members feel comfortable sharing ideas and concerns.
Community Engagement: Actively engage with residents to foster a sense of community. This includes organizing events, soliciting feedback, and addressing concerns to ensure that the association is responsive to the needs of its members.
Representation: You will represent the neighborhood association at local government meetings, community events, and with other organizations, advocating for the interests of your neighborhood and building relationships with stakeholders.
Oversight and Accountability: Oversee the implementation of community initiatives and projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Ensure that the board operates transparently and adheres to its bylaws and policies.
Goals for 2025
1 - Website:
Accessible website that is clean, comprehensive and cost effective. The website should be easy to navigate and provide important, up-to-date information where everyone can see it.
2 - Communication
3 newsletters per year, consider quarterly if financial feasible
Use reusable signage for neighborhood events
Mothly driveway parties
Quarterly MONA meetings
3 - Community engagement
80% of resident homes are connected by the google group or another platform that can inform, educate and create community for the majority of neighbors
4 - Financial
Have $6,000 in our account for use in the previous year
5 - Events
Summerfest, or fall fest or September fest event
Monthly driveway parties in months without another social event (10 months)
Dog events: Fall dog portrait shoot & Community walks
Moving Event – The Merry Moving Mile: 1 event that can include walkers, strollers, runners, dogs ETC using the greenway
Other: Parade for Halloween – dogs and children, Movie nights, Book clubs, Men’s gatherings

Responsibilities
Supporting the President: Assist the President in managing board activities and take over their duties in their absence to maintain continuity.
Co-Leading Meetings: Organize and facilitate monthly board meetings, ensuring that agendas are prepared, and discussions are productive and inclusive.
Overseeing Committees: with the help of the President, supervise various committees, guiding them in executing projects that align with the neighborhood’s goals and objectives.
Communication Liaison: Act as a bridge between residents and the board, potentially creating a what’s app group of advisors, gathering feedback and concerns from the community to inform board decisions and initiatives.
Community Representation: Along with the President, represent MONA at local events and meetings (neighborhood association meetings), advocating for neighborhood interests and establishing relationships with community stakeholders.

Develop and distribute (digitally and physically) a regular newsletter that highlights neighborhood news, upcoming events, community projects, and resident achievements.
Manage neighborhood-wide emails, ensuring timely and relevant information reaches all community members.
Oversee the upkeep of the neighborhood website, ensuring it is user-friendly, up-to-date, and reflective of community values and happenings.
Coordinate the communication of neighborhood events, utilizing various platforms such as social media, flyers, and community boards to maximize awareness and participation.
Collaborate with other board members to gather content and insights for communications, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach.
Engage with residents to gather feedback on communication strategies and implement improvements based on community needs.

Responsibilities
Garden Planning and Design: Oversee the layout and design of community gardens, ensuring they meet the needs and preferences of residents while adhering to best gardening practices.
Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with gardening activities, ensuring sufficient staffing for planting, maintenance, and events.
Workshops and Education: Organize and facilitate workshops and educational events on gardening techniques, sustainability, and nutrition to engage and inform the community.
Resource Management: Manage resources such as soil, seeds, and tools, ensuring that gardens are well-equipped and that resources are used efficiently.
Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among gardeners and residents by promoting collaboration, sharing successes, and organizing social events related to gardening.

Lead initiatives focused on the beautification and environmental health of neighborhood spaces
Plan events and respond to pop-up needs for clean-up and beautification events.
Maintain communication with Parks & Rec and with the City-County Storm Water Services regarding greenway and creek aesthetics and health.
Provide updates on beautification and environmental health efforts via various communication channels.
Organize block captains to assist in the communication of Merry Oaks events and important announcements

Complete block captain process including recruiting few more volunteers
Design a digital poster template for pop-up hands-on projects and introduce it to the neighborhood
Plan and implement a spring beautification/environmental project.
Prepare and provide data to inform neighbors’ ability to understand, and ultimately come to consensus on, the pros and cons of Alignment Rezoning as per 2040 Plan Map
Communicate need for picking up litter while walking and keeping storm drains free of debris
Get ETA on County purchase of Briar Creek floodplain north of Central Avenue

Responsibiities
Monitor and address neighborhood safety concerns, including traffic problems, disturbances, and reports of unsafe activities involving guns or drugs.
Serve as the primary liaison with local Eastway police officers, maintaining strong relationships to facilitate prompt response and effective communication.
Organize neighborhood safety meetings, workshops, and events to educate residents on safety practices and encourage community vigilance. As needed.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety, such as advocating for signage, speed bumps, or crosswalks.
Establish and coordinate a neighborhood watch program to foster community involvement in maintaining safety.
Communicate safety updates and tips to residents through newsletters, emails, and social media, ensuring everyone is informed and prepared.
Collaborate with other board members to integrate safety considerations into all neighborhood initiatives.

Act as the primary point of contact between the neighborhood association and the grade school, facilitating open communication and collaboration.
Organize joint events and activities that encourage community involvement in school programs, such as volunteer days, educational workshops, and family fun events.
Work with school administrators and teachers to identify opportunities for neighborhood support, including resource sharing, mentorship programs, and extracurricular activities.
Advocate for school needs within the neighborhood association, ensuring that community decisions consider the impact on local education.
Provide regular updates to the neighborhood association on school-related matters, including upcoming events, changes in school policy, and opportunities for community engagement.
Connect with school administrators to ensure the safety of school property after school hours.
